Spread the Love of Rescue Pets on Remember Me Thursday #SeeTheLight
It’s that special time of the year when we encourage pet adoption and bring awareness about the plight of shelter pets worldwide. Now in its 8th year, Remember Me Thursday is a worldwide pet adoption awareness campaign that happens today, September 24, and we’re very proud to participate and spread awareness again this year.
Mike Arms, on why he created Remember Me Thursday, “My heart breaks for those beautiful people working in animal welfare who are forced to take the lives of the pets they love. I believe lighting a candle for the orphan pets will be a way for people to let the world know how much they love them, and the awareness can help in increasing adoptions and decreasing euthanasia.”
President and CEO of Helen Woodward Animal Center,
How can you help?
September 24 is Remember Me Thursday (RMT) when the world lights up social media with pet adoption awareness and rescue stories. Join the movement, share your story and win prizes for your favorite shelter!
- Light your candle in honor of a special shelter pet you have loved or for those who never found their forever families.
- Enter the Remember Me Thursday Contest and share your rescue pet’s story to win money and pet food for a shelter of your choice.
- And most importantly, light up social media with your tweets, Instagram stories and photos of your rescue pets! Be sure to use the hashtags #SeeTheLight and #RememberMeThursday.
This is our 4th year we proudly participate in the Remember Me Thursday movement. We have 8 rescue cats living with us and they all have a story to tell. We adopted all our cats from a shelter except little Sly Pie who has his own unique story of survival and hope.
We featured Sly Pie’s story two years ago on how he found his way to the ‘Other side of the Glass Door’ breaking into the catio and making friends with the Chirpies months before we adopted him. His favorite spot is in the catnip tunnel and we think this is so apt. Because if we could read his mind, we think he is a ‘light-at the-end-of-the-tunnel’ kind of cat. His fighting spirit and persistence landed him a home at the Chirpy Cats house. We can’t save every cat and if it were up to my husband he would want to save all the cats that drop by!
Sly Pie is a lucky kitty and he wants to remind you to give love to pet rescues!

Sly Pie…so adorable! Love black-and-white kitties!
Adopt, don’t shop…rescued is our favorite breed.
We think Sly Pie really did a good job picking his home and thanks so much for joining in this most important global event. May all those pets in need find their homes

We love Sly Pie’s story! Though the story of how your husband said “no more cats” and then proceeded to bring several more home on his own is pretty wonderful too!
