If you have been following along with the Chirpies in 2017 you would have been exposed to many of the Chirpy Cats’ antics, mostly happening in the catio. This has become the heart of my inspiration for ideas, the central kitty lair which gave birth to segments such as Caturday Doodles, Caturday Voodles (doodles: video with voice-over) and to Marvelous Monday Haiku. It’s the place where my husband and I take delight in observing the feline dynamics in a multi-cat household, each cat with their own little quirks and chirps. So it was only the natural order of things that I wanted the Chirpy Cats blog to focus on helping cats live enriched lives with their people. I hope the Chirpies have added some value to your daily grind and we are so thankful for your company, your comments and feedback. Read More
When you have a panel of ten insatiably curious experts that poop in a box every day, you won’t want to miss an opportunity to try new litter products; especially if it promises less litter cleaning duty, is dust-free and has superior odor control. What? Where’s the catch? Let’s find out as we review our experience with Neon cat litter.
Neon litter comes in a variety of fun neon colors and they have this to say: “NEON Litter takes the “uggh and yuck” out of scooping the litter box…” So, let’s see what other cats are raving about and what’s so different about Neon litter. Read More
Amidst the holiday rush of the last few weeks, there were two things that put a smile on my face. One was undoubtedly my cats who make me smile every day. Especially my older 16-year-old cat, Earl Grey, who reminds me to live in the moment and cherish those 5-minute bonding brushings before leaving for work. And the other was receiving so many cute cards from cats and dogs around the globe. And then the e-cards came flooding in too! We loved each and every one of it and would like to say thank you to all of you! Read More
You know you hit the jackpot when you receive your package from your Secret Paws and there’s something for everyone to sink their claws into. We were super delighted by the wonderful gifts we received and would like to thank Summer, The Therapy Cat and her friends Binga and Boodie, from Sparkle Cat. Our gift box had a variety of toys for all tastes and included something for the chewers, the kickers, the chicken treat lovers and even a cute little key ring for the human!
Secret Paws is a Holiday Gift Exchange for cats around the globe and this pawsome gift exchange pawty is coordinated by the kind-hearted and magnanimous Paula from Sweet Purrfections. This is our first year participating in the fun and below Mr. Jack, our peacekeeper and CCSF (Chief Chirpy Social Facilitator) gives you his list of unboxing tips to keep unruly kitties in check so that it’s fun for everyone. Holidays are upon us and with so much going on we may forget that sometimes the things we bring into our homes may be harmful to our pets. Decorative ornaments, tinsel, needles from live Christmas trees and of course the popular holiday plants.
This is a guest post from Pedro, Editor-in-Chief at We’re All About Cats.
When I visited the community cat colonies living at the UWC campus in Cape Town this year, it warmed my heart to witness the dedication of the volunteers and staff of TUCAT (The University Feral cat Project). That Spring, the University got caught up in student protests on campus and as always, it’s the innocent animals that suffer the consequences that follow. Some cats went missing or were displaced, and with the student holidays and skeleton staff, it was a challenge trying to track them down and ensure that all the cat colonies were fed. But with the help of everyone from the volunteers, campus caretakers, and the security guards, the cats never missed a meal. The TUFCAT campus cats call this university their home and are loved by many!
Hello furriends! Happy Monday from me, Mr. Jack. If you know anything about me, you know that my main tasks here at the Chirpy household is to keep the peace and spread the communal scent through grooming everyone in my path, heck, even human feet. But that is not the only reason I groom. I also like to groom my coat to keep it in tip-top shape for my selfies. I like my fur and whiskers all in place. But there comes a time when striving for perfection can become stifling, exhausting and rather energy-draining. In today’s haiku, I leave you with my eye-opening realization as I lay on a bed of Autumn leaves… Read More
There is nothing more annoying than that overzealous friend wanting you to join her for Zumba at the crack of dawn and all you want to do is sleep in. And what about that roommate who oversteps the boundaries and helps himself to your week’s supply of yogurt in one sitting? When it comes to our cats, their relationships with each other are no different. So what’s a cat to do when his housemate wants to play and he wants to sleep? Well, you scratch a sticky note text on your scratching post, of course! Read More
It was October 2016 when I first came across TockTober hashtags and wondered what all the fuss was about. There were tocks of all kinds, shapes, sizes, and floofiness and we were amazed. This year we didn’t want to miss out on the fun so we gave you a little sneak preview of Jimmy’s tocks, walking down the catio catwalk. Read More
